Wildfire Mitigation in the Bay Area: What Can Be Done?
Wildfire Mitigation in the Bay Area: What Can Be Done?
Please join us on Wednesday, September 7th at 4pm Pacific time for a presentation and Q&A with Sara Paul of
Watch Duty
. Sara is a dynamic speaker who will help us to understand the real wildfire risks (to life, property, health, etc.) in the era of accelerating climate disruption. Her talk will include tips for identifying wildfire vulnerabilities in our homes and landscape, evacuation planning, and staying informed as events develop.
This event is part of our
2022-23 Climate Speaker Series
brought to you by the League of Women Voters of Piedmont and
Piedmont Connect
. The series will serve to educate constituents on a range of important topics to improve our understanding of the causes (sometimes surprising), perils (sometimes not fully recognized), and solutions to ongoing environmental pollution and climate disruptions.

More about our speaker:
Sara Paul is a wildfire mitigation consultant. She manages Sonoma County Fire Updates, established on Facebook at the start of the 2017 Tubbs Fire and now a resource for vegetation fires, threatening weather and evacuation preparedness. Her company,
Watch Duty, is an app designed to help discover and track wildfire hazards in real time to help everyone near a fire zone stay safe and informed.
When not reporting on fires, she might be found in the Monte Rio community garden or paddling on the Russian River.
This event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Solano County.
