Asm. Wicks represents the 15th Assembly District, which encompasses Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont and parts of Oakland in Alameda County and El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante and Kensington in Contra Costa County. Wicks’ 2021 legislative package prioritizes some of California's long-standing challenges, now exacerbated by the pandemic.

Annual Meeting and Speaker Nancy O'Malley on May 6, 2021

Our Annual Meeting this year will immediately follow speaker Nancy O'Malley, Alameda County District Attorney, who will talk about "Perspectives on Women's Issues."  She will discuss her important work with abused and homeless women, helping them move beyond trauma into a positive future. DA O’Malley will also address the many challenges COVID-19 has posed.  The speaker presentation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and our Annual Meeting will be from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Register for this event and find out more.

We have three open slots for delegates to the LWVC Convention this year. The convention will be entirely virtual with business conducted Friday (6/11) to Sunday (6/13) and numerous events and workshops earlier in the week. You can see the full schedule here

What is LWVC Convention? LWVC Convention is a biennial gathering of League leaders from across the state who convene to provide direction to the California LWV for the next two years; who pass the LWVC budget for the next two years; who direct the LWVC/EF program for the next two years; and, who inspire and energize each other sharing best practices and proven solutions League to League.

What do you do at LWVC Convention? First and foremost, you engage with other Leaguers. You have fun. You learn. You appreciate the power and responsibility of being a Leaguer. And you use your voice to determine League’s direction for the next two years! What matters to you? What do you think League’s focus should be? You bring the weight and ideas from your local League to the state convention!
 

National "Unity Against Hate" Rally - Saturday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m.

Join voices to take action against acts of hate on AAPI and all other communities. Take a stand against verbal and physical violence perpetrated on Asian Americans. Together, we will fight and prevail to end hate crimes and discrimination in the United States of America. The local rally will be held in the Pacific Renaissance Plaza, 388 9th street, Oakland. This event is sponsored by LWVUS and LWVC.
