He will address the latest findings, the status of delta and other variants and the likely effectiveness of boosters and therapeutics. He will also speak about Covid safety for schools. The second half of the program will be a moderated Q&A session for viewers.

| Carbon Pricing to Combat Climate Change
September 22nd at 4pm
| It’s been a summer like no other here in California. Smoke and destruction from wildfires have already claimed more than 1 million acres in California alone, warmer oceans harbor zombie urchins destroying kelp forests, and the UN just released a new code red on climate change.
Wondering where to look for hope despite the current darkness? Could something as arcane as carbon pricing, a hot topic as Congress seeks to up the ante on climate action, offer a ray of light?
| | | To find out, join the League of Women Voters of Piedmont, Citizen's Climate Education and Piedmont Connect – on Wednesday, September 22 at 4pm online via Zoom and livestreamed on the LWVP YouTube channel – for a panel discussion on carbon pricing.

Have you heard about the newly introduced Freedom to Vote Act? Join LWV Berkeley Albany Emeryville on September 17th at 4pm for a local event as a part of a nationwide Day of Action to urge the Senate to Finish the Job by passing voter protections quickly and to demand that they let nothing, including the filibuster, prevent them from getting the job done.
Finish the Job! | | | Alameda County’s Redistricting Process is Underway!
Make Your Voice Heard
Every ten years, electoral districts throughout the U.S are redrawn to equalize the district populations, a process called redistricting. In 2021, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors will draw the supervisorial district boundaries through a public process. In particular, the BOS seeks public input with respect to defining the boundaries of Communities of Interest (COI) that should be kept whole. Submitting your COI is an easy and important way to ensure your voice is heard in this public process of redrawing the lines of each Supervisorial District.

Monitoring local government meetings is a long-established practice of the League of Women Voters. Protecting our right
to know is integral to the health of our democracy. Decisions that
determine how our schools will be run, at what level community safety
programs will be funded, and how land will be used impact
our lives and are vital to our well-being. These kinds of decisions need
to be made with public input and oversight. Help LWVP by signing up to observe City Council and School Board meetings.
