LWVC Opposes Ban on Ranked Choice Voting
LWVC letter opposing ranked choice voting ban

The League of Women Voters of California launched a targeted effort to oppose AB 2808, which would have banned ranked choice voting for state and local elections, including in the six cities that already use this system. Thanks in part to the Leaguers in key districts who took action to reject this anti-democratic legislation, the bill will not be moving forward.

LWVUS Urges Climate Action in the Senate
Screenshot of letter from LWVUS to Members of the US Senate
Following a new report from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicating the importance of international governments acting to reduce emissions, LWVUS urged Senators to prioritize invest in renewable energy, implement a plan to put a price on carbon, and address the long-term impacts climate change has on public health. Action now is critical to curb the most dramatic impacts of climate change that may occur at warming levels higher than 2 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels.

Action Alerts!
Take Action: Tell your Senators to Support the Equal Rights Amendment

On March 17, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to remove the ratification timeline attached to the ERA. Now, the fight for the ERA is in the Senate. S.J. Res 1 is the companion bill in the Senate that would remove the timeline. We need 60 votes to pass the resolution. Contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor this resolution and ensure that the ERA is a part of our Constitution.
