Upcoming League Events
LWVP Holiday Luncheon is back!
Tomorrow, December 2nd at 11am
Our Annual Holiday Luncheon will feature guest speaker Shannon Olivieri Hovis, Director of NARAL Pro‑Choice California. She will speak about the current state of reproductive rights in the country and how California is leading the fight to protect this critical right in light of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Online registration for this event is now closed. You may register at the door, however, we cannot guarantee a box lunch for you. There will be snacks, coffee, and drinks available.

When: Friday,  December 2, at 11 am 
Where: Piedmont Community Hall, 711 Highland Avenue, Piedmont CA 94611
Lunch will be served:  $40 members and $45 guests
 
This event will be the first fundraiser and first in-person event for the League of Women Voters of Piedmont in three years. Please come and support the League’s work!

Sustainable Groundwater Management in California: The Challenges Ahead

Please join us on Wednesday, January 18th at 4pm Pacific time for a presentation and Q&A with Paul Gosselin Deputy Director for Sustainable Groundwater Management at the California Department of Water Resources.

This event is part of our 2022-23 Climate Speaker Series brought to you by the League of Women Voters of Piedmont and Piedmont Connect. The series serves to educate constituents on a range of important topics to improve our understanding of the causes (sometimes surprising), perils (sometimes not fully recognized), and solutions to ongoing environmental pollution and climate disruptions.

 

Webinar: Know Your Rights: Public Meetings in California

Know Your Rights California Public Meetings LWVC and First Amendment Coalition
Hosted by the League of Women Voters of California, the First Amendment Coalition’s open-government experts will provide an in-depth presentation on your rights to access public meetings in California. The presentation will focus on the Ralph M. Brown Act’s open-meeting requirements for local legislative bodies, including recent law changes that affect teleconferencing and where First Amendment speech protections intersect with the government’s ability to manage proceedings.
