The Promise of Carbon Neutrality by 2050: A Community Discussion
Carbon Neutrality by 2050: A Community Discussion on Carbon Pricing and How to Spend the Proceeds
Please join LWV of Palo Alto for this program hosted by LWVPA Natural Resources Committee and Citizens’ Climate Education.
Putting a price on carbon may be the single most powerful tool we have to reduce America’s carbon pollution to net zero by 2050. But which carbon pricing and policy options will best serve the American people in an equitable manner? Join team members from
Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE)
for a short presentation on carbon pricing and policies. Then, join a facilitated breakout group to discuss carbon pricing, including equity implications, and how carbon pricing policies fit with other carbon reduction initiatives.
CCE strongly believes that successful climate solutions need broad public buy-in from the American people who understand how they will work. Results of the breakout group discussions will be shared with all attendees at the end of the event.
The LWVUS supports pricing carbon emissions but does not advocate for one method or piece of legislation over another. For more information, please refer to the
League's position on carbon pricing
.
