Save the date! Mark your calendars to join us for our Annual Holiday Luncheon Fundraiser on December 1st at noon at the Piedmont Center for the Arts.

Speaker Delaine Eastin will join us in a conversation about women in politics. Delaine is the former California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, still the only woman to ever be elected, in a profession that is dominated by women. She previously served eight years on the State Assembly and six years on the City Council in Union City, where there is an elementary school named after her.

Learn about the City's Moraga Canyon Specific Plan at two upcoming commission meetings.

Both meetings will be held in City Council Chambers at Piedmont City Hall, 120 Vista Avenue:
Community members in attendance will have an opportunity to speak once on the item. The meetings will also be broadcast live on KCOM-TV and available for streaming on the City’s website.

 
History, Memory, and Landscape
Tuesday, November 7th at 5:30pm
History Memory and Landscape a presentation by artist and landscape designer Walter Hood
Please join the City of Piedmont for a presentation from globally renowned artist and landscape designer Walter Hood on Tuesday, November 7th, 5:30pm at the Alan Harvey Theater (800 Magnolia Avenue).

The City has engaged Oakland-based Hood Design Studio to develop conceptual designs for a memorial to Sidney and Irene Dearing, Piedmont's first black homeowners who were forced out of the city in 1925 after a year of harassment, threats, and violence.

California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. delivered the keynote at the Future of California Elections (FoCE) Conference on October 16, 2023. The conference was organized by the LWVC Education Fund.

“There is too much at risk and too many people who died for women’s right to vote. There has been so much sacrifice to let it atrophy. As elections officials and advocates, we must make sure that we undertake the necessary task of educating the public on why voting matters.”
