LWVP Welcomes Piedmont High School Student as Fall Intern

Published on 10/1/2022

The League of Women Voters of Piedmont is pleased to welcome our Fall 2022 intern, Madelyn Hill. Maddy is already hard at work helping organize and promote a mock election at Piedmont and Millennium High Schools.

LWVP's internship programs provides students with the opportunity to make a difference in their community and engage their fellow students in the democratic process. Our interns learn skills to become effective communicators and leaders while taking action to better our community.

Piedmont High School, Millennium High School, Piedmont residents attending private schools, and local college and university students are welcome to apply for the League of Women Voters of Piedmont Internship Program. Students will learn about the League, Voting Rights, and Voter Registration, and help us reach out to young people in our community.

Maddy joined us in September and her statement about why she is interested in the internship and what she hopes to contribute as an intern is below.

"Hi! My name is Maddy Hill and I’m a junior at Piedmont High School. I am excited to intern with the League of Women Voters because I feel that the values of the organization resonate with values that I hold myself. I personally care about the importance of fighting political apathy among my peers and believe that the power that young people can hold should be used to make an impact on the issues that will affect our futures. I hope that by interning with the league, I can help push these values forward while learning and gaining experience.

"As an intern with the League of Women Voters, I hope to apply my past experience with organizational work from holding leadership positions in Piedmont Community Service Crew and NorCal Junior State of America to contribute to the projects and work of the League. I hope that by interning with the League of Women Voters, I can both gain experience and contribute to the work that the League does!"
